Staging environment

A staging environment is a private copy of your live product where you test changes before customers ever see them. It mirrors production, the same setup, often a copy of real-shaped data, so you can click through a new feature in realistic conditions and catch problems that never show up on your laptop. For a lean founder, staging is the safety net between "works on my machine" and "breaks for paying customers". You ship a change to staging, walk the real surface, confirm money flows and core workflows behave, then promote it to production with confidence. It costs a little to run a second environment, but the alternative, debugging in production while customers watch, costs far more in trust. Many teams add a preview deploy per change too, so every pull request spins up its own testable URL. The principle holds: prove it somewhere safe before it goes live.
