Awareness-matched selling

How hard you sell depends entirely on how aware your reader already is. Pitch a hard close to someone who does not yet know they have a problem and you sound deranged. Pitch a soft, educational warm-up to someone ready to buy and you waste their time and lose the sale.

The useful ladder runs through a few states. Some readers are oblivious, they do not know the problem exists. Some are aware of the problem but not that solutions exist. Some are thinking about solving it and weighing options. And some are ready, they just need a reason to choose you now. Each state needs a different opening move. The oblivious reader needs the problem made real before anything else. The ready reader needs the friction removed and a clear call to act.

The practical read is soft-sell versus hard-sell. A cold reader gets the soft sell: teach, tell a story, build the case slowly, earn the right to ask. A hot reader gets the hard sell: state the offer, prove it, ask for the action, remove the risk. Match the temperature, do not guess it.

There is one more piece that catches people out: consistency across the whole journey. The promise in the ad, the headline on the landing page, and the offer itself must echo the same idea in the same words. When a reader clicks an ad about building a company solo and lands on a page headlined with something vaguely different, the spell breaks and they leave. Keep the through-line identical from the first touch to the final ask. The reader should feel they are following one continuous thought, not being handed off between strangers.

INTERVIEW EWOUD: For your main venture, which state is most of your traffic in, oblivious, problem-aware, or ready? How does that change the first thing you say to them?

INTERVIEW EWOUD: Have you ever broken the consistency rule, run an ad or link that promised one thing and landed people somewhere that felt different? What happened to the people who clicked?
