FAQs

How much budget do I need to run LinkedIn ads properly? Enough that each campaign can gather meaningful data, not a token amount sprinkled across many campaigns. As a working floor, plan for a few thousand pounds a month per active campaign so it can exit the learning phase and produce numbers you can trust. Underfunding is worse than not running at all, because a starved campaign costs money and teaches you nothing.

Are LinkedIn ads worth it for a small or early-stage company? Only if you sell a high-value product to a precisely defined buyer. If your deal sizes are large and your buyer is identifiable by role and company, LinkedIn can reach people no other channel can, even on a modest budget. If you sell a low-priced or broad-market product, the cost per lead will outrun your economics, and you are better served by cheaper channels first.

Lead-gen forms or send people to a landing page? Native forms for top-of-funnel offers where volume and low friction matter, like a report or a webinar, accepting that some leads will be soft. A landing page for higher-intent asks like a demo, where you want a more committed lead and can absorb the lower conversion rate. Match the choice to how warm and how serious you need the lead to be.

Why is my cost per lead so high compared to other platforms? Because LinkedIn charges a premium for targeting nobody else has, so high absolute costs are normal, not a sign something is broken. The real question is not whether the cost per lead is high, it is whether those leads become qualified pipeline and revenue at a rate that justifies the price. Judge the channel on cost per closed deal, not cost per click.

How long before I know if LinkedIn ads are working? Give each campaign a few weeks and enough conversions to exit the learning phase before judging the leading indicators, and a quarter or two before judging the real worth, because B2B sales cycles are long. A lead from this month might close next quarter, so short-window judgement understates a good campaign. Watch weekly to steer, decide on cohort data over time.

Should I run ads if I have no organic LinkedIn presence yet? You can, but it works far better alongside an organic point of view, because your ads borrow credibility from the thinking people can find when they check you out. A curious buyer who clicks your name and finds a strong, consistent voice converts better than one who finds an empty profile. Build at least a basic organic presence so paid reach lands on something real.

Match CTA to segment readiness. Hot traffic wants "Book demo now", cold traffic wants "Get the guide". Asking for too much too soon kills conversion. Asking for too little from ready buyers wastes opportunities.

The first line determines whether anyone reads your ad. Test different hook types (questions, stats, pain statements, outcome promises) to find what stops the scroll for each segment.

Images and videos determine whether ads get noticed in feed. Test formats systematically: single images versus carousels versus videos, and match visual type to segment and awareness stage.
