Integrate the hub into the workflow, or it becomes a second job
A sales hub that lives apart from where reps actually work becomes a reporting chore done badly at the end of the week. The whole point of configuration is to pull the hub into the daily flow: email, calendar, calls, documents and meetings should all feed the record without a rep retyping anything. If logging an interaction is a manual extra step, it will not happen, and your data will be a fraction of the truth.
Connect the inbox and calendar first, because that is where most B2B selling actually happens. Emails should log against the contact, meetings should attach to the deal, and the rep should see the full thread on the record without leaving it. When the hub captures the conversation automatically, the timeline becomes a real history instead of a sparse set of notes someone remembered to write.
Be deliberate about what you sync versus what you over-sync. Logging every email is useful; logging every internal calendar block and every newsletter blast is noise that buries the signal. Configure the integration to capture genuine buyer interactions and to filter out the internal churn, so the record reads as a relationship, not a firehose.
Push the hub to where the rep already is, not the other way round. A browser extension or inbox sidebar that surfaces the deal next to the email beats asking a rep to switch tabs and search. Every context switch you remove is a unit of friction you stop charging, and friction is the only thing that decides whether reps keep the hub true.
Treat the integration layer as part of the configuration, not an afterthought. A beautifully structured pipeline fed by manual data entry will starve. A modestly structured pipeline fed automatically by the tools reps already live in will thrive. Where the data comes from matters more than how elegant the schema looks.
