Introduction

Most advice about a solo founder's growth stack arrives as a list, twelve tabs of "the 47 tools you need", each one best-in-class at its one job and blind to every other. That list is the problem dressed up as the answer. A stack of clever silos is not a growth engine; it is a pile of subscriptions you pay for monthly, reconcile forever, and wire together by hand at the exact moments a deal is won or lost. The tool count is a vanity metric, and almost always a liability.

The reframe that changes everything is this: a growth stack is a machine, not a shopping list. You are not buying features, you are buying connected throughput across the funnel, from generating demand at the top to growing revenue per client at the bottom. A machine has a spine and the spine is your CRM, the single source of truth the whole thing hangs on. Around that spine you wrap AI agents that do the labour, and a glue layer that keeps every part in sync. Everything else either feeds the spine or removes a human handoff. If it does neither, it is dead weight, and you can feel the weight: the average company now runs around 110 SaaS tools, and most of that software is barely touched.

This is not theory dressed as ambition. Pieter Levels runs a portfolio of products past 3M USD ARR with zero employees, and Ben Broca runs Polsia at 1M USD ARR while managing 1,100 client companies on his own. The model holds even in a high-touch business. What changed is that the labour of a growth team, the routing, the enrichment, the follow-up, the drafting, now runs on an agent stack that costs a few hundred dollars a month rather than a salaried department.

By the end of this playbook you will be able to choose your spine without compromise, name the four jobs your stack has to do, wrap that spine with agents instead of headcount, and build the machine in the right order so that each piece pays its way before the next one arrives. You will stop buying tools and start building the growth machine.
