Cadence

Cadence is the regular, predictable rhythm at which a recurring activity happens, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly. A sales follow-up cadence, a weekly metrics review, a monthly finance close: each is an activity plus the fixed beat it runs on. The value is in the predictability. When something has a cadence, it happens by default instead of depending on someone remembering, and everyone knows when to expect it.

For a lean founder, cadence is what turns good intentions into a system. It is tempting to do reviews, planning, and outreach "when there's time", which means rarely. Assigning a fixed cadence, the numbers get reviewed every Monday, invoices go out on the 1st, the pipeline is cleaned every Friday, removes the decision and the willpower from the equation. The work just runs on its beat. Pick a sensible interval, protect the slot, and let the rhythm carry the operation so you spend your energy on the work itself, not on remembering to do it.
