EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System)

EOS is a complete operating system for running a small to mid-sized company, set out by Gino Wickman in Traction. It gives a founder a set of simple, repeatable tools across six components: Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process and Traction. Instead of inventing your own way to set goals, run meetings and hold people accountable, you adopt a proven framework and stick to it.

For a lean founder, EOS matters because it replaces founder-in-the-head chaos with a shared rhythm the whole team can follow. You get quarterly priorities (Rocks), a weekly meeting structure (the Level 10), a one-page accountability chart, and a discipline for surfacing and solving problems. The point isn't the jargon; it's that everyone pulls in the same direction without you personally chasing every detail.

In practice the tools live in software you already run. Say you're tracking your three quarterly Rocks as a board in Monday.com, one column per owner, so progress is visible without a status meeting. Your weekly Level 10 runs off a recurring Cal.com booking, and the issues list you work through is just a backlog you keep in Coda alongside the one-page accountability chart. That's the real value: EOS is concrete and low-overhead enough that it bolts straight onto the tools you have, rather than asking you to buy a whole new platform.
