Featured snippet
A featured snippet is the boxed answer Google pulls to the very top of its results, above the normal listings, to answer a query directly, often a paragraph, list, or table lifted from a ranking page. It's sometimes called "position zero" because it sits ahead of the first organic result.
For a founder, winning a featured snippet is prime real estate: it grabs outsized attention and brands you as the authority on that question. You don't bid for it; Google selects it from pages already ranking near the top, choosing the one that answers the query most cleanly. So you earn it by structuring content to be liftable, posing the question as a heading and answering it immediately in a tight paragraph or a clear list, then expanding below. The catch is the rise of zero-click search: a snippet that fully answers the query can satisfy the user without a click. Aim for queries where the snippet earns trust but the full answer still needs your page.
