Prompt-Level Ranking
Prompt-level ranking is tracking how your brand performs for individual prompts inside AI engines, the AEO equivalent of keyword-level ranking in classic SEO. Instead of "do we rank for this keyword?", you ask "when someone types this exact question into ChatGPT or Perplexity, are we mentioned, cited, or recommended, and in what position?"
For a founder this matters because AI answers are prompt-specific and often non-deterministic, the same question can yield different sources, and a tiny rewording can change who gets cited. Tracking at the prompt level shows you precisely where you win, where you lose, and which competitors own which questions. You build a set of high-intent prompts that mirror your buyer's real research, run them on a schedule, and log the result for each. Patterns emerge: prompts you reliably win, prompts you never appear in, prompts where the answer is wrong about you. Each pattern points to a clear next move, content, corrections, or authority-building.
