Self-serve analytics
Self-serve analytics means anyone on the team can answer their own data questions through a dashboard or exploration tool, without filing a request and waiting for someone technical to run a query. The metrics are defined centrally and trusted, but the access is open, so a marketer can check channel performance and a support lead can pull retention without a bottleneck.
For a solo or lean founder, this is mostly about not being the bottleneck yourself. Early on every number runs through you; that doesn't scale and it slows decisions. Setting up clean, well-named dashboards on top of a trusted data model means questions get answered the moment they're asked. The trap is opening access on top of messy data, that just spreads wrong answers faster. Define your core metrics once, build a few clear views, and let people explore within those guardrails rather than querying raw tables.
