Introduction

A sales sequence is automated, structured follow-up that fires at every stage of the pipeline so deals stop slipping when the work gets busy: the meeting follow-up, the proposal nudge, the re-engagement of a stalled deal, the pre-meeting warm-up that kills no-shows. Build them well and they do not replace the personal touch, they guarantee it happens consistently. The gap they close is brutal in the data: roughly 80% of B2B deals need five or more follow-ups to close, yet only around one in ten reps makes more than three attempts and nearly half quit after the first (Martal, Belkins). Follow-up messages alone generate about 42% of all campaign replies, and almost half of senders never send a second one, so they abandon nearly half the responses they could have earned (Built For B2B). Teams running a standardised follow-up process see around 78% higher conversion than teams running on memory.

In my course I show how automated nurture activates leads and cuts manual work in the marketing funnel. The same principle applies after the handoff to sales, but most teams never build it. They lean on reps to remember to chase, and most reps do not. This playbook walks you through the sequences your pipeline needs, the benchmarks that tell you whether yours are working, and, most importantly, how to build them so a buyer reads a human on the other end rather than an autoresponder firing into the void.
