1.6 Compare growth approaches

Why do some marketers struggle while others scale with ease? It's not about intelligence, talent, or how hard you work — it's about having a structured system that makes growth predictable, repeatable, and stress-free. In this lesson, we'll compare the three marketers we've followed and see why their approaches led to dramatically different outcomes. By the end of this lesson, you'll understand why Sarah consistently wins and how you can start thinking and working like her.

Here are our three marketers: Random Rick, who experiments wildly but never understands why things work; Specialist Steve, who masters one part of growth but plateaus because he ignores the rest; and Solid Sarah, who follows a structured system that compounds results over time.

This graph shows the revenue growth of each marketer over time. But to understand what's happening, we have to dive deeper.

Let's take a closer look at Sarah's Cost Per Engaged Session (CPES). Her orange bar is much larger. This is the difference between the speed limit (her max CPES) and how fast she's driving (actual CPES). Think of it like this: Sarah has a bigger budget for acquiring customers and she can outspend her competition without losing money. Let's say she starts spending €1.50 on every engaged session. That still leaves her with room to spare, as her maximum CPES is €1.83. But if Random Rick and Specialist Steve try to compete with her at that level, they'll be hemorrhaging money. This is a dangerous situation for them. Imagine them trying to keep up with Sarah's growth, pouring more and more money into ads, only to find themselves losing money on every customer they acquire. It's a recipe for disaster. Sarah, on the other hand, can continue to scale her efforts profitably, leaving her competitors in the dust. This is the power of a holistic growth strategy. It's not just about acquiring traffic; it's about building a system that allows you to acquire customers profitably and sustainably.

Let's delve into the root causes of Rick's frustration as a warning to you.

Rick's constant experimentation without a clear understanding of why things work or don't work leads to frustration and inconsistent results. He collects too much data but lacks focus, and his lack of a system forces him to work harder instead of smarter.

Now, let's examine the root causes of Steve's plateau.

Steve's focus on traffic optimisation, while initially successful, leads to a growth plateau in the future. He ignores other crucial aspects of the growth engine and lacks a roadmap for further improvement.

Finally, let's explore the root causes of Sarah's impressive results.

Sarah's structured approach, using the Solid Growth System, allows her to identify what's working, prioritize improvements, and achieve consistent, stress-free growth.

This lesson compared three different growth approaches, highlighting the importance of a structured system for achieving sustainable and scalable growth.

Here are some questions to reflect on your learnings: 1) Which of the three growth approaches most closely resembles your current strategy? 2) What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses of your current approach? 3) Which elements of the Solid Growth System resonate most strongly with you and your current needs? 4) Who else would benefit from this course?

Three sales leaders, three approaches. Random Rick tries everything and burns out. Specialist Steve goes deep in one area but misses the bigger system. Solid Sarah runs fewer experiments but aligns her metrics, compounds her efforts, and wins consistently. See how Sarah's systematic approach beats individual excellence.

Growth isn't about working harder or trying more tactics. It's about building a system where each experiment informs the next, where metrics feed strategy, and where effort compounds. This chapter shows Sarah's playbook side by side with Rick and Steve so you can see exactly why structure beats chaos.
