Aha Moment

The aha moment is the specific point where a new user first grasps the core value of your product, the instant the thing clicks and they understand why it's worth their time. It's not a feeling you guess at; it's an observable action you identify from data, like the famous early Facebook insight that users who added seven friends in ten days were far likelier to stick.

Why this matters to a founder: once you know your aha moment, your entire activation strategy has a target. You stop optimising onboarding by intuition and start engineering users toward one concrete action that predicts retention. Find the behaviour your retained users all share early, that your churned users mostly didn't, and you've found it. Then onboarding, emails, and in-product nudges all bend toward getting more users to that moment, faster. It turns a vague 'make onboarding better' into a measurable goal.
