Multithreading

Multithreading in sales means building relationships with several people inside a target account rather than relying on a single contact. In B2B deals the average buying group has six to ten people, so a deal threaded to just one person is fragile: if they leave, go quiet or lose influence, the deal stalls or dies with them.

For a founder selling into companies, multithreading is one of the highest-leverage habits you can build. Map the buying group early, the user, the budget holder, the technical evaluator, the eventual sponsor, and earn a relationship with each. It does more than de-risk the deal; it speeds it up, because the internal conversations that actually move a purchase happen between those people, not in your calls. The classic single-threaded mistake is a great relationship with a champion who turns out to have no authority. Multithreading is how you find that out before the deal collapses.
